5 CONCERT POSTER TIPS:
1. Include an incentive to come to the show - one free beer, one free CD.
2. Size the poster for easy social media sharing.
3. Show a picture of the band. Always.
4. Mention another band (with it's permission) that will be playing as well. Will increase draw.
5. Reference a current holiday, sporting event, album release."

The music industry is not dead and you can still make money. And here is why:
The Copyright Royalty Board recently raised the non-interactive stream rate payable through SoundExchange from .0011 cents to .0017 cents. These pennies can add up.
All musicians, from every sector of the industry, continue to create music.
Fan bases become tribal, and pay cash for your music.
Live streaming allows your garage band to perform in Baltimore and be seen and heard in Sydney, Australia.
There are plenty of smaller, independent labels to work with if that is the route you want to take.
Prove that your band is UNIQUE, and people will listen and pay.
Social media - love it or hate it - is cheap and easy to promote your art.
By 2018, 180 million listeners in the US will be streaming music. That is a shitload of people.
Never stop. Write every day. Perform anywhere you can. Never stop.

This article serves three purposes.
First, it announces me to the AmpSlam community as some to come to for help using the site.
Second, it's my first post, so it's a bit of a test.
Third, it lets you know about a project on which Thomas (AmpSlam CEO) and I work. The project is called the Music Manumit Lawcast. It's a monthly show on YouTube and at Music Manumit that discusses various legal issues that may be of interest to independent musicians. We try to be upfront each month about whether the topic is introductory (likely to be useful to musicians) or if it is designed for attorneys. So far, we've discussed the CC BY license. Don't know what CC BY is? Great! Listen to the show!
Our next show is on band agreements, so if you are thinking about starting a band or are in a band and don't currently have an agreement, definitely check out that show. We'll record live on YouTube on July 28. Also, make sure you get us questions before the show so we can try to answer them in generalities.
Remember, the Music Manumit Lawcast is never legal advice. If you need legal advice, please speak with a licensed attorney in your jurisdiction. If you happen to be in Maryland, check out http://www.marylandmusiclawyer.com/."
